ACCESS RULES

THE WOOD

Apart from being the site of the South African National Memorial, Delville Wood is a military cemetery where thousands of allied and German soldiers of the Great War repose.

Therefore, visitors are requested to adopt a respectful conduct worthy of this Remembrance place and to not consider this peaceful and pleasant wood as a fun park. The site is a private  property, the personnel in charge of its maintenance and supervision is within his rights to evict all offenders.

Visitors are reminded that many live shells remain in the wood. Therefore, the public is adviced to remain within the rides.

Access to the Museum is free of charges, however donations are very welcome so to keep their Sacrifice in perpetuity. Donations boxes are available in the Information Centre and in the Museum.

For a better service, we recommend parties to book well in advance and notify their presence on site upon arrival at the Information Centre.

Thank you.
