THE INFORMATION CENTRE

 

The Information Center is open, selling coffee, tea, cold drinks, cakes, chips, chocolates, books, postal cards and bookmarks.

11h00 - 13h00 / 14h00 - 17h00

 

It is a port of entry to introduces the site. Besides its first function to inform visitors on the site and the Remembrance Tour, the Information Centre offers a permanent exhibition dedicated to the South African participation sud-africaine in the First World War notably the role of the Native Labour Contingent. Panels reminds the creation of the site : construction of the Memorial and of the Museum.

It also provides light refreshments and basic facilities such as car park and toilets.

Offered to the Republic of South Africa by Mr and Mrs BOURDIER DE LONGUEVAL and their daughter Laure Alexandra as a token of gratitude to South African soldiers who fought courageously during the First World War to liberate the village of Longueval, the birth place of their ancestors and to also express their attachment to this village.
